Void Cruisers
In the Oververse, the only way to safely travel is via Void Cruisers. There is no standardized design and they vary wildly depending on what resources, culture and society built them. For instance, the diverse Colourless have Void Cruisers that look like magnificent floating temples while also having others looked as if they were hobbled together from scrap and salvage.
These ships are typically manned by 3 to 4 crew members but much like the ships, that number fluctuates. All ships are typically outfitted with weapons of varying efficiency. The Void is a dangerous place after all…
Traveling in the Oververse is as simple as pushing the throttle forward. This provides the thrust needed to venture through the 0g environment. Engines use a specialized fuel source called Gold Slop. This Gold Slop is a byproduct of processing the valuable resource of Ear Honey. Gold Slop is the most commonly used fuel source in the Oververse. Societies use it to power their engines, provide electricity to citizens and it is completely edible. So during more dire times remote communities would eat the slop, only to sift through their feces later. Not all Gold Slop gets broken down by biological processes. Better to be fed and have less fuel later than to be dead with all the fuel in the world.
Jooce is an alternative fuel source, though many complain about the wear and tear it causes to cruiser engines. Still, many communities have switched to this fuel source as it doesn’t seem to affect their generator’s health and is cheaper. However, Jooce is inedible.
The Hub is one such Void Cruiser. Too powerful to run off of Jooce, The Hub strictly uses Gold Slop to fuel its systems. And it needs a lot considering the cruiser houses it’s very own Singularity. The Hub is bigger on the inside then on the outside. Inside is an expansive, customly designed Singularity. It is the only ship of its kind. No other faction, community or society has been able to hand craft a Singularity.
The Cult of Glass, the designers and producers of this one-of-a-kind ship, has been closed lipped on their process and abilities to do so. This has caused a lot of undue strain and stress between them and the others. Most want the technology so they can craft brand new homes for themselves. Others want it so they can have a one up on their rivals. The Cult has yet to address anyone’s concerns nor have they met with any Pathfinder of any faction to discuss terms of use and assembly.
The Hub is outfitted with several different rooms and hallways. The most common room is the Avatar Room. Here the Avatar rests, connected to a massive tank of Ignorant Bliss, awaiting an Eye to inhabit it. Outside of that room is the East Hall. At the end of the hall is the Airlock which houses The Red Door. Along either side of the wall are other berths for various companions, visitors and passengers. At the other end of the hall is the bulkhead that leads you to The Lobby.
The Lobby is a massive circular room with a single desk in the center. Above the desk is a cone of television sets all tuned to BNN (Bastion News Network). The Lobby is manned by Benny the Fallen Seraphim. They were once an angel working for the Mad God of the Colourless. He was cast out of that God’s heaven and sent to the mortal realm where he plucked his feathers out one by one. More on that fella another time.
The Lobby is the heart of The Hub and it connects to every other part of the ship. To the North is the Cockpit. Inside is the Navigation Console which is used by the pilot to navigate the Oververse in real time. To the South is an elevator that will take you down to the Lower Deck. This deck is another long hallway with several rooms. The first room is the Engineering Room manned by Ox Rowly. A humanoid from some far distant reality that collapsed long, long ago. Further down are the Archives, stationed there is Dryad, She Whom Defied the Fates. The Archives also houses the supermassive Shogun Database. A database filled with all of the Multiverse’s information.
To the West of The Lobby is the West Wing. Another long hallway that comes to a dead end. Here you can find Mike’s Blue Hut which is manned by Mike. You can buy just about anything from the Universe of Eyes from him (and sometimes some more uncommon Oververse items). A little further down is R&D which is manned by Igor, a turtle-like being with a third robotic arm. He handles the researching and development side of the operation.
Maintaining your Void Cruiser takes more than simply ensuring you have fuel. Repairs will need to be made at ports, food supplies will dwindle while exploring, ammunition will need to be monitored, weight will need to be balanced. However, a savvy captain will use resources to ease the burdens of management by upgrading systems on their ship.
