Ear Honey is Data

The title says it all…

Ear Honey spawned from me misunderstanding the term “Ear Candy”. This is a term used in music production that describes all of the fun textures, sounds and filters that don’t pertain to the music specifically but helps to elevate the piece as a whole. I referred to it as Ear Honey and it just sort of stuck.

Originally this idea was supposed to happen inside of my “Band Lore” (TwoToned) and the website was supposed to be a proof of concept on what a more creative band would be able to achieve if they so wish. However, most people just want to look “Professional”, as if they aren’t in a field meant for creatives…

Anyway, I took Ear Honey and made it this valuable and rare resource that held all of the data of whatever collapsed Multiverse it hailed from. People from all over the Oververse would flock to a collapsed Singularity and start hoovering up all of the globs they saw. Once processed, the Ear Honey would provide them with data on people, places, things and events. Less complicated Multiverses have already been mapped out with that data alone. More complex Multiverses, such as the illusive Ghostlands, are often filled with incorrect, contradictory or problematic info.

To harvest Ear Honey, you either have to be in the right place at the right time, or single handedly kill the God of a Multiverse which causes a Collapse. Then you would use remote controlled tubes to suck up the globs. In a more efficient system, such as the one on The Hub, the globs will be sent straight to a processing center. Others will store them in vacuum tubes later to be processed or sold.

Once processed, the info is often pressed into “Cards”. These Cards hold all of the information pertaining to that person, place, thing or event that was processed from the glob. The Cards are often used for decorations, but those infected with Eyes are able to use the Cards. Avatar’s have been seen summoning weapons, armor, gear, allies, and sometimes even consuming the cards and suddenly becoming stronger, faster or braver.

The relationship between Card and Avatar is still being studied.

Ear Honey is the single most important resource in the Oververse. It is a thick, viscous-like liqiud with a deep golden color and glow. After Processing it produces a byproduct called Gold Slop which is used to fuel engines, generators and can make a great food substitute if you are in need. However, Ear Honey has other uses then just processing. Those who insert the Honey into their own ears often report hearing distant voices. The voices vary from person to person but most report that they sound as if they are singing. If one follows these voices in their mind, they will soon delve into pure delirium. The effects last from 3 to 178 hours depending on the person.

The episodes of delirium are said to be intense. People report living entire lives while others report they had crossed the For’eth Balla and entered into the Universe of Eyes. It is highly recommended that one does not insert Ear Honey into their own ear as it is highly addictive with a 92% mortality rate. Some have been known to ingest Ear Honey. They say it tastes slightly sweet with a bitter aftertaste. Some cultures even use it for cooking, claiming that it gives the food a lovely aroma and an umami that cannot be matched.

As for the Cult, they have the largest Ear Honey repository in the entire Oververse. While most of it is open to the public, much of the information processed is kept behind closed doors. Only the most privileged are granted access to their vault.
