Thoughts About Chapelle’s “Apology”

This one may be short. I just wanted to fire this thought off while the iron is still hot. Recently I saw a video of Dave Chapelle chastising the conservative party for “weaponizing his trans ‘jokes’”. If you are unaware of who this fella is, he’s a “Filthy nightclub comic”. His words, not mine. However, as someone who (surprise, surprise) loves comedy, especially stand up, I would describe his jokes as punching down and catering to rich white people.

Now that he his being held accountable for his “jokes” and walking back a lot of the proud things he said:

“I’m team TERF.”

“Gender is a fact.” -Which I don’t even understand, even with context.

He suggested being trans is similar to blackface, which only makes sense to you if you are too stupid to understand what a social construct is.

He was upset about Caitlyn Jenner winning woman of the year award. Me too but that’s because she’s a bigoted bitch, not because it “is unfair for cisgendered women”.

He compared Trans people to actors. Which again, only makes sense to you if you are too stupid to understand social constructs.

No, Dave, your jokes weren’t weaponized. Your jokes were already weapons. That’s like giving Israel bombs and then being upset when they commit a genocide with the bombs you gave them. Don’t walk back what you said. Be proud of your TERF status. Go share drinks with the Mold Queen since you want to suck down her queef through a straw so badly. You are transphobic. You are a bigot.
