Expeditioneer - For When you Need Shit DONE

The Oververse is far from a safe place. Squabbles often lead to fallouts which inevitably tumble into violence. For those who prefer to handle their issues from the safety of their armchair, they can rely on an Expeditioneer.

Expeditioneers are mercs, wandering the Void from job to job. The first Expeditioneer appeared in the Oververse after the First Shattering. While many details of this individual is lost to time, his name remained: Cu Redpaw.

Redpaw was described a massive, humanoid figure whom never stepped out of his suite. He stumbled into what is now known as The Etheridge Valley, making contact with a group of people known only as Clan Blackfeather. With Cu’s help, Clan Blackfeather quickly rose to power and established the first civilization in the Oververse. More on Clan Blackfeather later.

Cu pushed the borders of the Blackfeather rule far beyond the valley and soon took on apprentices and squires eventually founding The Brotherhood of Shatter. The Brotherhood started as a way to train others in the art of Expeditions but later shifted focus as tall tell signs of another Shattering reared its head.

Cu was recruited by The Forgotten Prophet to travel to the For’eth Balla and be the first to traverse beyond the borders of reality. While some dispute the success of this expedition many agree that evidence can be found at The End, a supermassive blackhole in the For’eth Balla. Like a skin blemish it festers on the eyes.

After the Second Shattering much of Cu and his disciples were lost, however their knowledge survived through records and oral retellings. Today An Expeditioneer probaly isn’t aware of the rich history or lineage they walk in. Most are simply profound at combat, staving off the hunger to gain more loot, more gear, more things.

Loot Madness is a state of mind that Expeditioneers tend to slip into. While most spells last for less than a few minutes, some, mostly those deemed as “anti-social”, can get lost in madness for several days. Few ever come back from it. When affected with LM, the infected individual will be thrown into a violent rage. Unable to think clearly they will strike at friend and foe alike. They will not disengage nor is it reccommended to try and snap an Expeditioneer from their delirium. Just stay out of sight and out of their way.

If an Expeditioneer doesn’t regain their mental faculties, they will wander the Void both on foot or in a Void Cruiser. If you encounter one it is recommended to kill them without impunity. It is you or them.

Some Puppets collected by the Cult of Glass were once Expeditioneers. However, they’re brains have been altered to prevent LM. However, Eyes can still develope a taste for violence and greed.
